My name is Laura Smit and I’ve taken my passion for helping children educationally and aptitude for working with people therapeutically, to combine it into my unique career as a Remedial Learning Support Therapist and Registered Counsellor.
My husband on the other hand, is convinced it’s just because I like studying!

I’ve spent a number of hard working years providing Learning Support Lessons in a variety of different school and private practice contexts. Doing so, by patiently, enthusiastically and affectionately facilitating an assortment of wonderful children overcome fascinating learning challenges.
In connection to the counselling side of my career, I’ve provided therapy to children, parents, adolescents and young adults who were all experiencing severe life stressors.
Does that mean I’m crazy? Working with exceptional yet challenging children?
Or spending my time listening to others’ emotional turmoil and baggage?
Most probably, yes. Then again, I think that “crazy” adds to my charm and courage and makes those who come to my room feel accepted and understood.
I’m the girl who you’ll find with her nose in a book and a cup of tea in hand, the girl who will make you randomly giggle and comfort you with pizza and wine on a bad day. I’m the girl who overthinks, is always running late, falls over in yoga, works in organized chaos and can find a way over any mountain.
Most importantly, I’m somebody that’ll work with you as we find a solution through the struggles, together.
I’m a passionate interventionist especially dedicated to the work I do and the people entering my office.
